Projects
We continue our work in education through participation in school construction including latrines and equipment, and school supplies for these schools. In addition, we focus on income generating projects and skills development by supporting local crafts training.
The Foundation is currently working on the development and the monitoring of many projects.
In Burkina Faso
A priority action program in collaboration with the UNDP and the Canadian embassy in Burkina Faso will be
established shortly and will determine the SEMAFO Foundation's actions for the next two years. We can already confirm that a canteen project will be put in place in collaboration with the Paul Gérin-Lajoie Foundation. For the 2009-2010 school year we will start with the village of Wona, which also welcomes students from the village of Somona. The canteen will serve meals to about
675 people for a duration of nine months. This project will last at least five years. The Foundation is searching for partners in order to develop and maintain canteens in other villages.
